MAY – THE MONTH OF MARY, OUR LADY OF GRACE

Our Lady Of Grace

MAY …THE MONTH OF MARY

OUR LADY OF GRACE

May the most beautiful time of the year when spring is at the height of its beauty. May altars are dedicated to Our Lady and are created during this month and are decorated with flowers that are in bloom.

It’s a tradition for Cathaloic families and schools to create these altars to honour Our Lady in a special way during May by putting up a small altar in the home or classroom where they can pray together there.

The centre of the May altar is a statue of the blessed virgin placed on a small table or a window ledge. Flowers of the season are picked and placed around the statue to express our love for mary. Items of devotion such as a rosary beads a small crucifix or a prayer book or a candle can also be included in the altar.
